When Actin rescued Bonny  a small Podenca, and her pup Alfie, they seemed to be strays but we later discovered they had an owner. The neighbour told us the hunter/owner planned to kill her so Actin got her and her pup safe really quickly. Alfie the pup was homed in the UK soon after but we couldn’t seem to find anyone interested in Bonny, although she was so pretty. We couldn't understand why a year later this beautiful girl was still looking for her forever home, and then Anne offered to foster her and everything changed for Bonny. Anne continues her story...

"I remember seeing Bonny on the ACTIN Facebook page last year. I was sorely tempted to offer her a home on the spot. I resisted, sure that she would soon find a wonderful loving home. It was only when I offered to foster a dog for ACTIN earlier this year that I discovered Bonny was still looking for a home. I couldn't believe that such a sweet little dog was still waiting, almost a year on. Needless to say, such a charming girl was always going to melt our hearts and have me caving in on my resolve to be a foster mum only. I stuck it out for three months but I wonder if I suspected, deep down, that she was meant to be ours. I think Bonny knew all along.

"Some months in and it is very clear how well she had settled into our lives. She is still a bit hand shy and nervous of anyone approaching her too quickly. However she gets braver everyday. She goes mad for her walks and loves riding in the car. She adores having her tummy rubbed in the mornings and gives her dad a little song to show him how much she enjoys it. She is the first there when treats are on offer and she has become very adept at stealing vegetables from the veggie rack (her favourites are carrots) but somehow there is always room for dinner!

"She has struck up a formidable partnership with my smallest podenca, Livia. Together they have remodeled the garden with their digging and burrowing. That is just one of their mischievous hobbies, rearranging the rose beds is another. She has also taken possession of our armchair and can be found most days on there, stretching out and relaxing. I think she is happy, I know that we are delighted that she is going to stay."

Actin are so pleased for Bonny, that her foster home turned out to be her forever home and she has settled in so well. She now has a best friend to play with, and is taken such good care of. She couldn't be in a better place, no wonder she had to wait a whole year to find this special place. Thank you to Anne and Dan for loving Bonny.
